Derwentside workshop gives Durham businesses unique chance to meet with investors
FinanceCamp North East has teamed up with Maven Capital Partners, one of the UK’s leading private equity and alternative asset management firms, to give Durham-based businesses the chance to access the funding they need to grow.
As part of their investor readiness programme, the FinanceCamp team and Maven Capital Partners will deliver an Understanding Investors workshop on the 16th May at the Green House in Annfield Plain, 09:15-11:30.
Providing the knowledge and tools for businesses to explore the different sources of funding available, Durham businesses will be able to get a better idea of the funding options available to them, strengthen their proposition for funders and prepare an investor pitch. This will help make it quicker and easier for businesses to raise the funding they need.
FinanceCamp is a programme of opportunities for businesses to ensure they’re investment ready before being expertly matched in a series of fast-paced meetings at FinanceCamp on Thursday 05 July at St James’ Park, Newcastle.
The popular annual event provides a unique opportunity for the region’s most ambitious businesses, from fledging start-ups to established companies, to meet with the people who can give them the money they need to grow. Attending Understanding Investors gives businesses access to professional advice on pitching to investors, as well as guaranteeing a place at FinanceCamp.
Last year’s FinanceCamp attracted a wide variety of investors, including venture fund managers, angel investors, banks, social investment funders and crowdfunding platforms.
Estelle Blanks, Executive Director at the Innovation SuperNetwork, which organises FinanceCamp, said: “The idea behind FinanceCamp is to simplify the often complex process faced by growing businesses when seeking funding. Each year the event gets bigger and better with a diverse range of North East businesses applying to make the most of the opportunity to pitch to a range of investors on one day, under one roof. Understanding Investors is a key element of the programme, ensuring businesses feel ready and equipped to come face-to-face with potential investors.”
Businesses of any size or sector can apply to take part - whether they’re an entrepreneur looking for a £1,000 start-up loan or an established business searching for millions of pounds for growth. With funding experts from UNW and Ward Hadaway on hand to provide insight, FinanceCamp will also feature keynote speeches and networking opportunities before businesses meet with their matched investors one-on-one. Further programme details will be announced soon.
