Training Strategies given political seal of approval as new Bootle HQ opens
Bootle MP Peter Dowd was joined by Sefton Council leader Ian Maher to open the new Training Strategies headquarters last week.
Training Strategies, which is a high-quality training provider, recently moved to the new site in Oriel Road.
The 6,000 sq ft office accommodates its existing 60 staff which were previously based in Stopgate Lane in Liverpool. This new accomodation enables the company to cater for additional learners who enrol onto its courses.
The skills provider, which celebrates its 10th birthday this year, specialises in the delivery of apprenticeships and pre-employment programmes for unemployed people. It is also a key player in helping local and North West businesses grow by offering an array of bespoke courses that can be delivered in the workplace.
The organisation has become a leading deliverer of apprenticeships, winning coveted contracts through the Education Skills Funding Agency. The company currently works with over 1,100 apprentices, with 80.2% of learners achieving their apprenticeship - which is significantly higher than the national average.
Now, with a train station situated directly next to the site, the company - rated Good by Ofsted - believes it’s in a prime location to attract a new wave of applicants keen to complete its pre-employment programmes as well as enhance its on-site training offer. Over 60% of candidates move into employment as a result of the programme and 94.1% achieve their qualification.
Speaking at the launch event, Peter Dowd MP said:
“The relocation of Training Strategies is good news for Bootle and the wider Sefton borough. We are witnessing regeneration and investment across the constituency - and the new tenants on Oriel Road is a further reminder of this. It’s great to see such a reputable company investing in our area; creating jobs for local people as well as helping young people into employment and I hope they continue their success in the future.”
Speaking about the new move, Training Strategies’ Apprenticeships Manager, Barry Dunne, added:
“It was great to have the support of such important political leaders and stakeholders as we embark on a new chapter in Sefton. We are really excited with our move to the new unit as well as our expansion. Now that we have more space, it means we have the capacity to take on additional staff to support the growing numbers of people we are helping through apprenticeship and pre-employment programmes.
Demand for our on-site employment courses is also growing rapidly so hopefully we can be responsible for upskilling workforces across Merseyside. Our ambition is for individuals to secure high-skill, high-wage jobs which will help boost the Liverpool City Region economy.
It has been a promising start and we are confident that 2018 will be a big year for us.“
Training Strategies works with over 300 employers across the Liverpool City Region and supported over 2,000 local residents in 2016/17, delivering relevant training to improve their employment and life chances.
