Educational platform signs major contract with Sage Group

Sage Group UK Ltd has partnered up with an online platform, designed to showcase student skills and improve career choices, as it looks to digitally connect businesses and higher education institutions with future generations.

After launching with Teesside Learning Trust in partnership with Tees Valley Combined Authority, Sage is the latest organisation to utilise globalbridge - a platform allowing students to showcase their skills and engage with businesses in an online environment.

Launched in 2017 by former teacher, Ben Mason, Newcastle-based globalbridge has already agreed national deals with an increasing number of top employers and universities, as well as Middlesbrough Council who are looking for new ways to help students understand what skills are needed to flourish in the modern world.

globalbridge is now building relationships with government, education, Digital Union and business leaders, aiming to plug the North East and UK’s skills gap.

Ben Mason said: “We’re delighted to have signed up another high-profile business in the form of Sage Group.

“I’m very passionate about education and career aspiration, and through working with regional authorities our goal is to see every educational establishment and every business in the country digitally connected, with the North East at the forefront.

“Employers and universities want to find talent earlier but are struggling to find the best way to engage with schools and students. Universities equally have a priority to recruit.

“The traditional way of travelling up and down the country to careers fairs to attract students is outdated. A safe digital platform is the best way to identify future opportunities but also to allow equal opportunity for all.”

Although globalbridge has confirmed it has aspirations to roll out its service on a national scale, the company has made the active decision to resource the opportunity it has in the North East initially.

globalbridge is a member of Digital Union, the largest collective of digital businesses in the region.

Sticking with the ‘region first’ theme of the business, Mason concluded: “With the North East region in mind, we have forged a partnership with Digital Union who have helped greatly to promote globalbridge.

“The region has some outstanding tech companies and our work with Digital Union is not only to help promote opportunities within the industry but also to identify talent within the region, [providing] pathways within the North East tech industry.”
