New partnership to deliver later living help and guidance in Chesterfield
Three of Chesterfield’s leading professional services companies have joined forces to offer guidance, help and practical support to people in later life.
Milestone Financial Planning, Mitchells Chartered Accountants and Business Advisers and BRM Solicitors have come together to bring a fresh, end-to-end approach for people planning for their later life.
With nearly two thirds of the British adult population not having a will and one in three people over 65 now dying with a form of dementia, planning for later life has never been more important.
Creating a one-stop-shop for decisions concerning later life, such as care home fees, inheritance tax, power of attorney and wills, the partnership will deliver advice and services to clients under the BRM, Mitchells and Milestone brands, but as a joined-up one-stop service.
All the firms are well established and respected firms within Chesterfield. Although the firms have worked collaboratively in the past, this the first time they have formally collaborated to deliver a complete, joined up end-to-end approach for people navigating the legal and financial minefield of later life care and financial matters.
Prior to the collaboration, clients would have to visit the firms independently and at separate times. Together, BRM, Mitchells and Milestone will advise on pensions and investments, wills, estate planning, inheritance tax, equity release and funding and legal considerations for later life care.
Explaining the collaboration, Michael Heath, Director of Milestone Financial Planning, said: “Later life is a minefield as there is so much to consider – both financial and legal. It’s a minefield that both ourselves, Mitchells and BRM understand and are used to navigating, however many people don’t know where to start; now they do.”
Andrew McDaid, partner at Mitchells Chartered Accountants and Business Advisers, added: “It made absolute sense to create a joined-up service where our clients can sit in a room with a financial adviser, tax specialist and solicitor at the same time to ensure all their interests were covered, removing stress and worry as well as ensuring their interests in later life were protected.”
Preparing for later life has never been more important. It has been revealed recently that the average care home in the UK costs around £675 a week. Additionally, HMRC is penalising bereaved families for mistakes made in the estate planning prior to the death of their loved one, resulting in an additional £2 billion being taken in inheritance tax since March.
