Award-winning Yorkshire manufacturer, Andel, has appointed Willem Lewis as special projects executive in a newly-created senior role. Willem will be based in London as part of Huddersfield-based Andel’s ambitious growth strategy which will see it open an office in the Capital by the end of the year.
Andel is the UK’s leading developer of specialised leak detection and environmental protection systems. For over a quarter of a century, Andel has worked across all major industry sectors in the UK and globally with customers including The Houses of Parliament, The Pentagon, Barclays, Hong Kong International Airport, GlaxoSmithKline and Google.
Willem’s role will involve major project management of large contracts. He will also play a crucial role in business development, monitoring the markets for opportunities for new products and services for Andel.
Willem joins Andel from Islington Council where he worked for 11 years and progressed to Service Lead for Depot Facilities and Projects. His role involved project managing various large-scale construction projects and he was responsible for a team of 30 people. Willem also acted as local authority liaison officer which involved managing Borough emergencies ranging from fires to gas leaks in resident blocks to industrial estates.
Willem Lewis said: “I’m delighted to join Andel, an ambitious company with a global profile. My new role will see me operating across the business, liaising with customers, managing large projects and also assessing new markets and opportunities. I’m looking forward to contributing to future growth and success.”
Peter Double, operations director at Andel said: “Willem’s appointment comes at an exciting time for Andel as our turnover continues to rise and our workforce now exceeds 60 people. This is a new senior role in response to business growth and a crucial step to achieving our ambition of opening an office in London later this year.”
