Housebuilder Barratt acquires land near Manchester for up to 165 new homes
Land development firm BXB Land Solutions Ltd has agreed the sale of 10 acres near Manchester to Barratt Homes.
The site, located at the former Bridge Mills off New Road in Tintwistle, Derbyshire, has outline planning consent for up to 165 homes.
Following the acquisition, Barratt will submit a reserved matters application for the delivery of new houses. Work is expected to start on site this summer.
BXB purchased the brownfield land in January 2017, prior to which it lay unused for over 10 years.
Gary Goodman, director at Liverpool-based BXB, said: “This marks the first project completed by BXB. Our team has done a fantastic job in bringing the land back into productive use in a really short space of time, and we are delighted that a sale has now been agreed with Barratt Homes.
“We have a number of exciting projects in the pipeline currently, we look forward to providing sustainable and deliverable development solutions to problematic sites and playing our part in delivering clean, residential land to housebuilders, so that they can continue to meet the challenging housing targets set by the government.”
Holly Stiles, senior land manager at Barratt Manchester, commented: “We are very happy to have secured this fantastic development site and look forward to delivering much needed housing in Tintwistle.”
Planning consultants Nexus advised BXB on the project. CBRE’s Manchester office advised BXB on the sale. Property consultancy Mason Owen advised the company on securing the funding for the acquisition last year.
