Sit on the ‘FROW’ at the world’s smallest catwalk at intu Metrocentre
Fans of Sylvanian Families and fashion lovers in the North East should head to intu Metrocentre shopping centre for a FREE family event on Saturday 14 April featuring the world’s smallest catwalk.
Popular toy brand Sylvanian Families is showcasing a collection of haute couture miniature dresses on the tiny catwalk to celebrate the launch of the new Sylvanian Families Town. The Town includes a Designers Studio run by the upcoming, young fashion designer and new Sylvanian character Stella Chocolate.
The miniature event is still expected to draw big crowds at intu Metrocentre, the penultimate shopping destination being visited by Sylvanian Families as part of a national partnership with intu.
intu customers will be able to watch Sylvanian characters strut their stuff down the catwalk, modelling Stella’s first collection: eye-wateringly small, bespoke outfits, handmade exclusively in Japan. The models will only be a teeny 9.5cm in height - that is 19 times smaller than the average 5ft 11“ life-sized model. They will rotate around an automated catwalk with flashing paparazzi flashbulbs. The catwalk measures just 1300mm by 900mm - meaning if you blink behind your obligatory dark glasses you could miss the exquisitely detailed, miniature designs!
Any wannabe designers can also put their fashion skills to the test at the event by entering the Stella’s Intern competition to design a miniature dress. The lucky winner will have their design made into a real dress, as well as winning a whole town worth £500.
Throughout the day, children can watch their favourite characters – Freya Chocolate, Ralph Walnut Squirrel plus the new Town characters, Stella Chocolate and Theodore Maple Cat – singing and dancing or pose for photographs with them between the shows. Say “Sylvanians!”.
The Sylvanian Families Town Roadshow will take place at intu Metrocentre in Gateshead from 10am to 5pm on Saturday 14th April.
Helen Atkinson, marketing manager at intu Metrocentre, said:
“At intu Metrocentre we’re committed to providing an exciting variety of free family entertainment and this roadshow is a compelling mix of our favourite things – fashion and fun! It’s a wonderful chance for children to see their favourite characters and even channel their inner fashion designer in the exciting intern competition.
“We’re really looking forward to having Sylvanian Families at intu Metrocentre and we’re sure that the north east’s mini-fashionistas will enjoy getting a front row seat at this stylish event.”
