Operator sought for 15-storey hotel at Liverpool’s Paddington Village
Liverpool City Council is seeking an operator for a 250-bed hotel at its £1bn Paddington Village development.
The authority will confirm at an event in London today (April 12) that a tendering process with the Official Journal of the European Union (OJEU) will get underway next Friday (April 20).
Hotel companies Accor, Hilton and IHG are already shortlisted for the gateway scheme, which will be designed by Ryder Architecture.
The 15-storey tower will sit opposite the new Royal Hospital and become the highest venue in the city. When lit at night, it will serve as a beacon for the wider KQ Liverpool development.
The building will include a winter garden, multi-purpose conference and event facilities, function bar, restaurant and bar lounge, fitness suite and meeting space.
Mayor Joe Anderson said: “The speed at which Paddington Village is taking shape is a great symbol of a dynamic Liverpool, one that is forging a world-leading reputation in the knowledge economy and using it to drive unprecedented growth.
“Paddington Village is attracting huge international attention with the prestigious roster of names signed up to the scheme and it already has a hallmark for excellence.”
He added: “This new hotel will reflect that status from its design through to its service and I’m confident once complete it will be a hotel and a landmark building the city will be proud of.”
Liverpool City Council will announce the chosen hotel operator by August.
