Builder's funding for children's hospice nurse

The team caring for children with life limiting conditions at Children’s Hospice South West’s Little Bridge House Hospice in Fremington, North Devon has been handed a £1,000 boost. Persimmon Homes South West has made the donation through its hugely successful Community Champions campaign and will help sponsor the work of specialist paediatric nurse Lorraine Langmead for a year. Naomi Dymond, corporate fundraiser for the hospice, said: “Our nurses are the very core of Children’s Hospice South West’s service. We are currently supporting 172 affected children and their families through our Devon hospice, plus an increasing number of bereaved families. “Each child receives one-to-one care from our team of specialist nurses and whilst staying at Little Bridge House, mums, dads, brothers and sisters get the chance to be themselves again and can take a break from the role of carer for their child or sibling. “The qualified children’s nurses are invaluable to our care team and help us to provide the highest quality care and support to our children and families.” Nina Hester, sales and marketing director at Persimmon Homes South West, said: “We’re delighted to hand over this grant to help fund the specialist nurse at Little Bridge House. The care and support shown by all the team is truly priceless. “As a company we have enjoyed huge success over the last few years, and it’s great to be able to give something back to the communities in which we are working. “Our Community Champions campaign is still running and we’d welcome more applications via our website, www.persimmonhomes.com/charity” Each month the builder donates up to £2,000 to community groups across the south west. This also happens across Persimmon’s other 29 operating areas, meaning up to £60,000 is dished out every single month – a total of £720,000 a year, and more than £2million since the scheme started back in 2015.
