London healthcare service secures £5m contract for North West expansion
Totally plc, a provider of various out-of-hospital services to the UK’s healthcare sector, has announced that its wholly-owned subsidiary Vocare Limited has been awarded a four-year contract from Virgin Care.
Vocare is a national specialist provider of urgent care services across the country. The contract has an option to be extended by a further two years from Virgin Care, and is valued at £5m.
Under the contract - which comes into effect on May 1, 2018 - Virgin Care has contracted Vocare to provide GP out-of-hours services to NHS West Lancashire CCG through 18 GP practices in the region, covering a population of around 112,000 people.
Wendy Lawrence, CEO of Totally, said: “We are delighted to announce Vocare’s first contract in the North West of England and are thrilled to be working with Virgin Care.
“This contract is a key step in our drive to establish the company in this region and we believe it clearly demonstrates our ambition and ability to continue to expand our footprint across the UK.
“As a healthcare provider, our priority remains the provision of high quality patient care whilst also ensuring we create value for our shareholders by securing important strategic contracts such as this one.”
