Argentine food retailer to open first standalone venue in Wimbledon
Casa Argentina, an Argentine online food retailer, is set to open its first standalone premises in Wimbledon.
The new venue will combine a showroom, restaurant, delicatessen and wine shop, served all day every day.
The company, which is a result of 50 years of joint experience from partners Roberto Jellinek and Maximiliano Pistone, started as an arm of Building Bridges – an import and export solutions and supplier to restaurants specialising in Argentine cuisine.
The launch of the store follows on from Casa Argentina securing a £120k funding package from HSBC, which has enabled Casa Argentina to purchase all the equipment in store.
Roberto Jellinek, business partner at Casa Argentina, said: “We cannot wait for customers to try our authentic empanadas, pastries, meats and spices – and not to forget one of Argentina’s most popular exports the Malbec, which along with other wines will be found in our dedicated wine shop.
“We would like to thank HSBC for helping to make this venture possible, allowing us to purchase state of the art equipment that will ensure we deliver the best quality to our customers.”
Lucy Wynn, HSBC’s area director for business banking in South London, added: “Casa Argentina’s launch will not only bring eight new jobs to the local community in Wimbledon, but it will also add to the exciting variety of cuisine on offer to the residents in the village and its many visitors. We can’t wait to see what the future holds for this exciting brand.”
Casa Argentina is set to open early this summer and will be located at 156, Arthur Road, Wimbledon Park, London.
