Rain didn’t deter visitors

The region may have experienced wet and cold weather over the Easter school holidays, but it certainly did not stop people from visiting The Lady of the North aka Northumberlandia.

Situated on Fisher Lane in Cramlington, the landmark site that is managed by Northumberland Wildlife Trust was visited by 800 visitors on Easter Sunday, with 235 children braving the rain to take part in the Easter Treasure Hunts around the woodland trail to locate Easter eggs donated by Asda, Cramlington.

As well as a summer programme of activities, Northumberlandia now also boasts its first play features - a 35-metre long woodland log and step balance course.

Suitable for walking children of all ages, there are 28 separate linked features to enjoy from the site’s woodland trail. The trail was largely constructed from timber from the site’s woodland and follows requests raised in the Northumberland site users questionnaires last summer for a family friendly play area.

In 2017, Northumberlandia attracted over 90,000 visitors.
