Young cricketers kitted out with cash donation
County youth cricketers are going in to the new season looking smart in new kit thanks to a £500 cash boost. Camborne Cricket Club’s youth section has been handed the donation by Persimmon Homes Cornwall’s Community Champions fund to help pay for new kit so all players turnout as a team. The club has junior members aged from five to 16 and boasts one of the biggest youth set-ups in the county. Darren Pascoe, of the club, said: “We’re thrilled to receive this generous donation. We have done a lot of fundraising to improve the facilities and the youth section has full use of the nets, clubhouse and changing facilities, but we are aiming to present the youth section all wearing the same kit for the new season. “We are one of the leading clubs in Cornwall and have a number of youth s representing the county in the sport. The donation will help as achieve this and I am sure the players will all turnout in the kit with pride. “It’s fantastic that a large company such as Persimmon Homes uses its success to support the community in this way.” Dan Heathcote, director in charge for Persimmon Homes Cornwall, said: “We are extremely proud of our Community Champions scheme. It’s terrific to be able to support groups and charities across the region with thousands of pounds every year. “Camborne Cricket Club is a great club which provides excellent coaching and facilities for young people in the area. We hope that this money will help them fund their new kit.” The Persimmon Homes Community Champions initiative invites groups and charities who have already worked hard to raise money themselves to apply for match-funding of up to £1,000. Persimmon Homes Cornwall has two awards of up to £1,000 each available every month. To find out more or to submit a bid, visit www.persimmonhomes.com/charity
