Northumbria Law School wins bid to host prestigious international property conference

Academics at Northumbria University’s Law School have won a competitive pitch to host the thirteenth ‘Modern Studies in Property Law’ Conference (MSPL) in 2020.

The well-established biennial conference attracts academic, practitioner and law reform delegates from across the world with the aim of shaping and sharing best practice on current issues connected to all aspects of property law and its related fields.

It runs over two and a half days with a parallel post-graduate day on the final day and has a mixed programme of papers, works in progress, discussion sessions and key-note addresses. The best full papers go forward for a peer reviewed conference collection published by Hart publishers and edited by one or more of the organisers.

Initiated by Reading University, previous host universities have included Oxford, Cambridge, Queens, Belfast and most recently, University College London. 2020 will be the first time a ‘new’ university has hosted the event and the conference team of Professor Sue Farran, Associate Professor Russell Hewitson and Senior Lecturer Adam Ramshaw, who put the successful bid together, look forward to building on the excellent reputation established by previous hosts and adding a distinctive North East flavour to the event.

Professor Sue Farran explains: “We are delighted that Northumbria University has been selected to host the Modern Studies in Property Law Conference in 2020.”
