Wirral Chamber of Commerce appoints new Head of Communications
Wirral Chamber of Commerce has appointed Heather Heaton as its new Head of Communications.
Heather, 38, will now lead a borough-wide strategy to support the development and growth of a variety of members through business support, networking and advice to name a few.
With a passion for people development and business growth, she has previously held roles including Public Affairs Manager at Wirral Borough Council as well as running her own business Today Starts Now, which focused on enterprise projects, careers education and engagement within the sector.
Heather said: “I am delighted to join the Wirral Chamber of Commerce, working alongside a dedicated and knowledgeable team who strive to help our business members reach their full potential. As part of my strategy to reposition the Chamber and bring us firmly into the digital age, I have already created a dynamic online media publication, Wirral Business News, which will act as a directory for all things Wirral business, giving our members a platform to shout about their news and achievements and inspire one another.
“Wirral itself is an enterprise hub within the North West, boasting a plethora of ground-breaking start-ups and well-established businesses alike. As part of my role, I will be focusing on profiling these companies as well as showcasing the fantastic work done by Wirral Chamber of Commerce. We are striving to create an environment whereby businesses are engaged and have a collective interest in developing the borough into a haven for entrepreneurs, offering a supportive professional network, rivalling that of its neighbours in Liverpool and Manchester.”
As part of her role as Head of Communications, Heather is responsible for communicating with the Chamber’s individual members, sharing business news and opportunities throughout the network and managing the public presence of Wirral Chamber through communications, reputation management and social media to name a few.
CEO of Wirral Chamber of Commerce Paula Basnett said: “It is a great privilege to have Heather on board here at Wirral Chamber of Commerce. With her experience and passion for working with businesses, alongside having been a business owner herself, she has a real sense of what we aim to achieve in terms of developing the region and supporting local talent. We’ve seen many positive changes in her first few weeks and we look forward to seeing her develop within the role and taking the Chamber forward.”
