Yorkshire-based Radio Design receives Royal recognition for the third time

Yorkshire-based Radio Design, who designs and manufactures infrastructure sharing solutions for the wireless communications market, is delighted to announce that it has received a third Queen’s Award for Enterprise for its innovative Auto Bypass™ technology.

As previous winners in 2011 and 2015, receiving a further Queen’s Award is a huge accolade for Radio Design. The company has received the award in the Innovation category as recognition of its work in developing products which allow for the automatic routing of power and control signals in mobile phone cell sites. Radio Design’s products offer the capability for phone operators utilising technologies such as 3G, 4G and 5G to share and re-use expensive equipment on existing mobile masts, helping to reduce faults and ensure sites are future-proof.

Eric Hawthorn, Radio Design’s Managing Director, explains what the Award means to the company: “We’re absolutely thrilled to have been recognised for the third time in the Queen’s Innovation Awards. It’s incredibly satisfying that our team’s hard work has once again received global recognition. We’re very proud of our commitment to innovation and this award is testament to our dedication to providing network operators with a world class service.”

The Queen’s Award for Enterprise is a highly prestigious award which is widely respected both here in the UK and overseas. Awarded to businesses for outstanding achievement in the categories of Innovation, Sustainable Development, International Trade and Promoting Opportunity, receipt of a Queen’s Award rewards innovation and operational excellence.

The Radio Design team will have a chance to celebrate their success at the Queen’s Award ceremony which will be held at Buckingham Palace in September. “This award is one of the UK’s highest business accolades and we’re really looking forward to celebrating with other award winners. We won’t rest on our laurels though and will continue to work hard to innovate and provide our customers with the outstanding service they have come to expect.”
