Dress down day raises over £1000 for local foundation

A work-based fundraiser, which was organised by employees at EDF Energy in Doxford, has raised more than £1000.00.

Customer service employees at EDF Energy’s Doxford Park site recently sported casual clothes in a dress-down day organised by employee Natasha Robson, to raise funds and support the Seaham-based Bradley Lowery Foundation.

The Bradley Lowery Foundation was set up in the summer of 2017, in honour of Bradley Lowery, a six-year-old avid Sunderland FC supporter from Blackhall Colliery who had been diagnosed with neuroblastoma – a rare form of cancer.

The foundation was set up to raise funds for children with life-limiting illnesses, to help towards their treatment and equipment costs and short breaks, so that families could make lasting memories.

The generosity of employees made the day a big success and in total £1370.23 was raised, as well as raising awareness of the foundation’s work.

Natasha Robson, customer service advisor at EDF Energy Doxford, said: “Bradley Lowery was an amazing young boy, who captured the heart of thousands, if not millions of people. He always had a smile on his face.

“The foundation in Bradley’s name is doing amazing work in making a difference to the lives of young children and their families, and I’m really pleased that the Doxford team have helped to raise money that will help them to continue to support these young people.”

As well as the dress-down fundraiser, employees at EDF Energy Doxford have shown their support to many fundraising activities and charitable causes, including the company’s official charity partner Breast Cancer Now.
