Hotel near Buckingham Palace to open 35-cover champagne bar

A hotel overlooking the Royal Mews of Buckingham Palace is launching a new bar.

The Rubens at The Palace hotel has revealed plans for The Leopard Bar, a 35-cover venue offering a drinks menu of 200 whiskies and 30 champagnes against a backdrop of live jazz.

The opening next month with be the latest addition to the portfolio of leisure operator Leopard Bars and Lounges, whose venues have become signature features of selected properties owned by Red Carnation, the company behind The Rubens at The Palace.

While every Leopard bar and lounge is different, each venue features a bronze leopard sculpture by South African artist Donald Greig.

General manager Malcolm Hendry said: “The launch of the Leopard Bar is the final reveal in our extensive and loving refurbishment of the Rubens.

“The other Red Carnation Leopard Bars and Lounges worldwide have become vibrant destinations in their own right.”

He added: “We are excited that this bar will bring a certain glamour and joie de vivre to the hotel and the wider area.”

The Leopard Bar at The Rubens at The Palace hotel will open its doors on May 24.
