EdTech startups Kortext and pi-top join London Stock Exchange ELITE Programme 2018
Two startups specialising in EdTech have been selected as members of the 2018 London Stock Exchange ELITE Programme.
The aim of the programme is to “create unique ecosystem which draws together private growth companies comprised of high potential business leaders, entrepreneurs, academics, advisers, investors and stakeholders.”
The startups, Kortext and pi-top, are both born out of venture firm, Hambro Perks which backs and builds British technology companies with global ambitions.
Kortext is recognised as the UK’s leading personal learning platform and supplier of digital textbooks.
pi-top is an ecosystem designed to make experimenting, coding and building electronics more approachable. pi-top’s award-winning platform is used around the world in nearly 70 countries.
The acceptance onto the ELITE Programme will mean that Kortext and pi-top will join an international investment community that include the likes of Business Growth Fund, Deloittes, GP Bullhound, Index Ventures, Numis and UBS.
The programme will allow Kortext and pi-top to access institutional investors through the London Stock Exchange ELITE Club Deal platform. Since launching in 2012, the ELITE Programme has grown into a group of 800+ companies from 35 sectors from around the world.
James Gray, founder and CEO at Kortext, stated: “This is an incredible opportunity for Kortext to accelerate towards achieving our potential as a leader in the Personal Learning and Digital Content Sector. We have raised c£10m to date and continue to accelerate our business’ growth, year on year.
“This selection onto the London Stock Exchange ELITE Programme will further support our mission and enable us to build relationships with the ELITE Programme and its world class partners.”
Jesse Lozano, pi-top CEO, added: “It is an honour to be selected to join the London Stock Exchange Group’s ELITE program.
“We have aggressive growth goals for our company, but just as importantly, we are passionate about empowering educators to prepare their students for the future. We believe the work we will do with the ELITE group will help us accelerate reaching both these goals.”
