Hotel creates new cocktail to mark the Tour de Yorkshire
As Yorkshire gears up for one of the most anticipated sporting events of the year, a local hotel has invited a celebratory cocktail to mark the occasion.
The Tour de Yorkshire is to be held at the beginning of May and Richmond is to host Stage 3 which sets off from the picturesque market town on the afternoon of Saturday May 5th. Riders will depart from Richmond making their way along a 181km route to Scarborough.
Local luxury hotel and restaurant The Wensleydale Heifer, at West Witton, is very close to the route and wanted to mark the race by creating something special for guests to enjoy.
Barman Adrian Delaney has created the “Tour de Heifer” cocktail which will be served leading up to the race’s arrival in North Yorkshire and over the Tour weekend. While the team at the hotel don’t expect the athletes to indulge in the tipple, they hope guests in both the hotel and the restaurant will enjoy marking the race with the special drink.
The hotel’s Sommelier Vince Bako said: “Adrian has created a delicious and refreshing cocktail using Yorkshire vodka, lemonade, a little passionfruit, fresh blackberries and soda water. We wanted to reflect the passion cycling enthusiasts have for the sport, as well as our passion for Yorkshire.”
The Wensleydale Heifer always has a distinctive list of specially-created cocktails on offer for guests using fresh fruits and local ingredients to give them a special “Heifer” twist.
Owner and Head Chef at hotel, David Moss, said: “We’re extremely proud to be part of the Richmond and wider North Yorkshire community and were thrilled to hear the Tour de Yorkshire was going to be leaving from Richmond and passing close to us. It’s a special event and we wanted to create something equally special to mark the occasion as well as give those in the local area something refreshing to celebrate with.”
