Middlesbrough shopping mall opens 'one-of-a-kind' beauty store

Probrushes has opened in Middlesbrough’s Cleveland Centre offering a ‘makeup accessory’ service to the public and industry professionals.

The makeup and eyelash specialist has opened on the main mall of the town’s largest shopping centre, opposite New Look and Topshop.

Owner, Lisa Devanny believes ProBrushes is offering a unique service, with customers able to get their makeup brushes personalised, while there are special discounts for professional makeup artists.

Makeup artists receive a 60 per cent discount on lashes and 20 per cent on brushes, with the store opening from 8am on Saturdays for people to call in and place their orders.

Lisa, who has working in the industry for eight years, having trained in London, said: “There is nothing like ProBrushes in town in terms of the service we’re offering on lashes and brushes.

“We’re confident there’s a real demand, driven by the Instagram culture. Having a fantastic spot in Cleveland Centre make us really visible too.”

ProBrushes work in partnership with North East Makeup Academy, supplying brush sets to students at Durham College, while they are also in talks with other local colleges.

The new store has created a full-time job and an apprenticeship, while they are on the lookout for those with an interest in makeup to join their weekend team.

Cleveland Centre houses more than 60 stores including Disney, Topshop, H Samuel and W H Smith.

Centre manager, Graeme Skillen, added: “Along with the many national brands based in Cleveland Centre, we’re always delighted to host local names so we’re thrilled that ProBrushes have chosen to open their first store with us.”
