New visuals reveal future of Liverpool Waters

New imagery released today (May 2) has revealed how Merseyside’s £5bn Liverpool Waters project will look once complete.

The 60-hectare development will transform city’s skyline by restoring the northern docks, regenerating over 21,000,000 of space to create a new mixed-use waterfront quarter.

Liverpool Waters will span five individual neighbourhoods that run almost 2km north from the edge of Princes Dock to Bramley Moore Dock, where Everton FC are building their new stadium.

The CGIs coincide with the launch of a refreshed masterplan, updated to maximise the project’s potential and future-proof it for generations to come, according to the firm behind it, property giant The Peel Group.

One big change in the plan is the relocation of Central Park, which will now be closer to the River Mersey. The park, covering close to five acres, will bring a mix of culture and community to the Central Dock neighbourhood.

The masterplan likewise includes a re-imagined Clarence Square, also at Central Dock, along with layout changes to prioritise access for pedestrians and cyclists.

Liverpool Waters development director Darran Lawless said: “This really is a landmark time for the Liverpool Waters project.

“Following a decade of meticulous planning, we are now firmly in the delivery phase of this project, and I am excited to see these plans take shape.”

He continued: “The aim of the Liverpool Waters project is an ambitious one, but one that will expand the city centre as well as creating jobs and bringing economic benefits to not only North Liverpool, but the region as a whole.”

Ian Pollitt, assistant project director for Liverpool Waters, commented: “For over 10 years we have developed this project from an initial idea into the biggest single regeneration project in the history of Liverpool and one of the biggest of its kind anywhere in the world.

“It’s the comprehensive re-imagining and subsequent restoration of this derelict dockland which will reinstate the area back to its former glory.”

He added: “With these new CGI’s and our updated masterplan, we are demonstrating that Liverpool Waters will truly be a waterfront to the world.”
