The Children's Foundation launches Stars Awards
North East charity The Children’s Foundation has launched its annual search for the region’s bravest young stars.
The Stars Awards, sponsored by intu Eldon Square, is now in its 12th year, and celebrates the achievements of children with disabilities – and the challenges that they and their families face on a daily basis.
Last year, 3 year old Charlie Todd, from Darlington, was proud to collect his award after Natalie Harker, Fundraising Officer at Heel and Toe nominated him for his hard work and determination to achieve his goals.
Natalie said:
“Charlie has been attending therapy sessions at Heel and Toe children’s charity since September 2016 and since then he has achieved so much. Charlie can now independently walk and his non-verbal communication has improved greatly. Charlie has gained a lot of confidence and is an inspiration to everyone”
Samantha Curtis, Projects and Fundraising Assistant at The Children’s Foundation, added:
“If you know someone like Charlie and think they deserve recognition for their hard work and positive attitude, please nominate them for an award by visiting www.thechildrensfoundation.co.uk and downloading a nomination form. Alternatively, you can email Samantha.curtis@nuth.nhs.uk or call me on 0191 282 0894.”
Samantha continues:
“This is a truly up-lifting event, which we’re very proud to hold each year. It is fantastic to see the smiles on the children’s faces as they get up to receive their award. I would urge people to come forward now and nominate their very own little Stars.”
The Stars Awards will be held in Newcastle’s contemporary art gallery, The Biscuit Factory, between 12 midday and 2pm on Tuesday 19 June. It will be hosted by Metro Radio presenters, Steve and Karen, from their legendary breakfast show.
There are three categories you can nominate your chosen star for: • Child or Young person Star • Friend or Sibling Star • Parent or Carer Star
The closing date for nominations is Monday 4th June 2018
