Leeds city centre's Platform building reaches 90% occupancy seven months after launch

Bruntwood’s Platform building in Leeds city centre is now 90% let under offer while achieving record rents for the city, just seven months after opening.

Home to a community of entrepreneurial startups and national firms, Platform has already welcomed more than 80 companies which have taken space that ranges from single hot desks to full floors.

Among these are Mercia Fund Managers, Altinet, Rradar, Zeal Media, Travelopia, Big Lottery Fund, Coptrz, Hudl, iDisrupted and Hebe Works.

Platform, which officially launched in November 2017, is also already seeing customer expansions, with national law firm Shoosmiths recently announcing that it will take an additional half floor on top of the full floor it’s already occupying.

Cloud Sense Solutions, the cloud computing specialist which was one of the very first businesses to move in, is also expanding to take a further six desks.

LightStart Apps has grown from six to 10 desks, digital marketing agency 9xb has doubled in size from five to 10 desks and IT consultancy xTEN has moved from a two desk office to a six desk office.

Craig Burrow, director of Bruntwood Leeds, said: “Seven months on from completion, it’s fantastic to see Platform’s community thriving and businesses already expanding their presence here.

“Our vision with this landmark development has been to meet market demand and offer creative and cutting-edge spaces where people will want to work or locate a business.

“It has also been driven by our desire to cluster like-minded businesses in a setting where innovation and entrepreneurship come together to forge partnerships which will deliver growth, jobs and investment.

“Platform is also becoming the city’s front door for tech companies and we have no doubt that it will continue to prosper and be a central hub for the city’s innovative businesses going forward.”

Platform offers a wide range of workspace from a single hotdesk to all-inclusive serviced offices and traditional leased suites that customers can fit out to suit their requirements.

Bruntwood also offers a managed option which allows customers to build a bespoke package that includes furniture and management of the space.

Platform is also home to the Leed’s new tech incubator, which launched last month and is designed to nurture early stage businesses from the region’s digital technology sector to help create hundreds of jobs over the next 10 years.
