Ice cream brand Yolkin invests in first permanent store near Shaftesbury Avenue

Ice cream shop Yolkin has opened its first permanent store in London’s Chinatown.

The company, which specialises in ice cream sandwiches made using macarons, has set up at 24 Rupert Street, off Shaftesbury Avenue.

The 450 sq ft store offers 18 covers and serves flavours that blend South East Asian favourites with a Western twist, including matcha and Oreo.

Julia Wilkinson, head of group restaurant strategy at property firm Shaftesbury plc, which owns the unit, said: “Yolkin has already proved to be an exciting addition to Chinatown London and is a huge hit with our visitors.

“The brand has amassed an impressive following on social media with their brightly-coloured, highly-Instagrammable desserts, and added to the buzz of the opening by implementing a successful launch through these platforms.”

She added: “Their attractive macaron sandwiches fit in perfectly with Chinatown London’s growing offer of Asian-inspired dessert operators.”
