Brownfield site in Salford set for residential transformation

Great Cheetham Developments is transforming a derelict brownfield site in Salford with its latest residential project.

Salford City Council’s planning committee gave the greenlight for the 57-apartment scheme on the site of the former Griffin Hotel.

The land has lain vacant for a number of years, despite the council previously approving plans for another apartment building.

Homes within the new complex will comprise a mix of one- and two-bedroom properties.

Planning consultancy SATPLAN worked alongside North West legal practice Abacus Solicitors to bring the proposals forward.

Hayley Knight, associate at SATPLAN, said: “The latest planning approval provides the basis for a deliverable residential scheme.

“In order to get planning permission we worked with Salford Council to deal with significant flooding issues whilst achieving an attractive residential scheme.

The development was designed by Altrincham architects Project 3.

Hayley added: “The proposals […] will significantly improve the amenity for local residents and businesses, in addition to providing much needed housing in this location.”
