BDO Leeds to deliver VAT support for NHS framework
Accountancy and business advisory firm, BDO, has been re-appointed by the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) to provide VAT advisory support nationally to NHS Trusts. Led from BDO’s Leeds office, the contract will see the firm’s specialist healthcare team provide VAT advice directly to NHS Trusts on behalf of the DHSC.
BDO’s specialist VAT Healthcare Advisory team works with providers in tertiary, secondary, community, primary and private healthcare settings across acute, mental and community care. The firm also works with Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs), supporting NHS and private sector organisations optimising VAT recovery, planning and re-structuring.
The appointment is the latest of several new NHS contracts secured by BDO’s Yorkshire-based VAT healthcare team, including appointments at Newcastle Upon Tyne NHS Foundation Trust and NHS Blood & Transplant.
Chris Morgan, Associate Director of VAT and healthcare at BDO, said: “The Department of Health and Social Care - and indeed the entire NHS - continues to face unprecedented challenges in terms of provision of care and tackling financial strains; it’s more vital than ever that budgets are maximised and in that respect VAT plays an important role. Our healthcare team benefits from expansive knowledge of VAT advisory specific to the sector and will be working hard to keep funding where it needs to be, delivering patient care.”
This news comes on the back of BDO’s appointment of Lyndon Firth who continues to drive the growth of the indirect tax team in Yorkshire and the North East.
