Entrepreneurial duo set up traditional barbers at Liverpool’s Exchange Flags

Two entrepreneurs have set up their own barber shop within Liverpool’s central business district.

The Exchange Barbering Company was established by partners Mark Foster and Tony Manning, who have over 35 years’ combined experience in the male grooming industry.

The shop is located in Exchange Flags, nestled between the Vincent and Fazenda restaurants.

Discussing the launch, Mark said: “Tony and I have been looking for the right unit space in the city centre for a few years now.

“We wanted to be in the heart of the business sector and when Exchange Flags became available we knew it felt right and fitted our needs.”

He continued: “We previously had a site together in Maghull called the Bear & Blade but being in Liverpool city centre was the main aim.”

Tony commented: “The style of the barbers is something we both wanted to get right to fit what the Exchange Barbering Company is all about.

“We have gone for a real traditional look with chesterfield seating, dark wood panelling and even our hair products partner Dear fits into that style.”

Speaking further, Tony said the response so far “has been amazing”, adding: “Especially now with facial hair being in fashion, we get a lot of men in for beard trims.”
