A waste management expert has joined a growing engineering, planning and environmental consultancy to assist in its expansion plans.

Ian brings a wealth of experience to Caulmert and he joins the company as it targets an ambitious growth plan that would see it employ 250 people by 2024.
After graduating with a civil engineering degree in 1991, Ian has spent his entire career in the waste management industry, including in roles as a planning and licencing surveyor, project manager, and engineering manager. During his time at Viridor he was regional technical manager and then head of recycling projects delivery.
His role at Caulmert will see him oversee the environmental team, manage the successful completion of environmental projects, and help grow the consultancy further through new business development.
Ian said: “Although the waste management industry is a niche market it has given me exposure to a vast array of disciplines including acquisitions, bids, health and safety, planning and licensing, and project and HR management.
“I’ve also worked on differing projects such as landfill, bridges, roads and highways, industrial buildings and offices, process plant, renewables, and energy from waste plants.
“My experience also extends to environmental matters including contaminated land, noise, air quality, hydrology, compliance, and permitting.
“All of the above provides me with transferable skills into the Caulmert business, and I look forward to utilising my knowledge in assisting Caulmert achieve its vision and targets.”
Managing director of Caulmert Mike Caulfield said: “We’re pleased to have Ian and his considerable expertise on board with us.
“He has hit the ground running in his role and offers everything we need to grow our environmental services department.”
