FUNDS SUPPORT THERAPY FOR YOUNG HARRIET

The cost of funding one year’s specialist therapy for an 11-year-old with cerebral palsy has been met by a local housebuilder. Persimmon Homes South West has made the donation to fund conductive therapy for Harriet Dunn from Exeter. The £1,000 grant was made through its hugely successful Community Champions campaign. Anna Dunn, Harriet’s mum, said: “Harriet has cerebral palsy and is partially sighted and has weekly conductive therapy sessions with her therapist Viktoria Pavlics. “The therapy helps her with sitting unaided, standing and walking with sticks and as a result is also a boost to her confidence. We have noticed a massive change in her and watched her grow in confidence as she learns to become as independent as is possible. “I am so grateful to Persimmon Homes and the Community Champions fund as this will pay for another year of treatment and it will make such a difference tour family.” Nina Hester, sales and marketing director at Persimmon Homes South West, said: “As a company we have enjoyed huge success over the last few years, and it’s great to be able to give something back to the communities in which we are working. “This is exactly what our Community Champions scheme is all about, supporting good causes to make a positive change.” The Persimmon Homes South West Community Champions initiative invites groups and charities who have already worked hard to raise money themselves to apply for match-funding of up to £1,000 by completing an online form at www.persimmonhomes.com/charity This also happens across Persimmon’s other 29 operating areas, meaning up to £60,000 is dished out every single month – a total of £720,000 a year, and more than £2million since the scheme started in 2015.
