North-East author LJ Ross is back on top with latest thriller Seven Bridges

Best-selling author LJ Ross has soared to the top of the Amazon book charts with her latest thriller Seven Bridges.

LJ, who has just moved back to her native Northumberland, has just released her eighth DCI Ryan book, featuring an explosion on the Tyne Bridge.

But, Seven Bridges has already hit the top of the Amazon charts following its launch on pre-release. DCI Ryan fans desperate for the latest installment from their favourite detective bought the novel before it comes out, to make sure they’re among the first to read it.

Seven Bridges shot to the #1 spot before being briefly knocked into second place by Stephen Hawking’s A Brief History of Time, and then regaining the top place again. So far, LJ has sold 2.5million copies in the DCI Ryan series.

LJ said: “I’m so unbelievably thrilled that Seven Bridges has already been so well received, and massively grateful to DCI Ryan fans for their continued support.

“I really can’t think of anyone other than the late, great Stephen Hawking I’d rather be tussling for the top spot with. He’s probably the only person I can genuinely say I was happy that he knocked Seven Bridges into second place for a while.”

Seven Bridges picks up five months since a killer walked free in the last DCI Ryan, Dark Skies.

The book is named for the seven bridges which span the Tyne between Newcastle and Gateshead, providing one of the most iconic views in the region.

But, the Tyne Bridge, Swing Bridge, High Level Bridge, King Edward VII Bridge, Queen Elizabeth II Metro Bridge and even the Millennium Bridge are all at risk in the latest DCI Ryan installment.

LJ added: The bridges which cross the River Tyne are such an iconic part of the region that I really couldn’t resist putting them in peril in the new DCI Ryan. There’s no greater feeling than heading home to the North East on the train and seeing those bridges come into view!“
