Housebuilder’s cash boost to help seriously ill children and their families
A charity which helps children with serious health conditions has been given a cash donation by a housebuilder to provide financial help to a family in need.
Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity, which is based in Amersham, received a donation of £1,000 from Persimmon Homes North London through its monthly Community Champions scheme. The builder chose the group to benefit from its match-funded donation.
The charity works on a national scale to help children and young people with serious health conditions and complex needs by funding Roald Dahl specialist paediatric nurses within the NHS.
Roald Dahl nurses provide information, support and financial assistance to their families. Senior Corporate Partnerships Manager Sarah Sharkey said: “We provide grants of up to £1,000, which can be a lifeline for families facing financial hardship who care for a seriously ill child, so it is easy to see how this donation from Persimmon Homes will make a real difference.
“The money is invaluable for the families as it helps them fund much-needed equipment. Our aim is to ensure that the children remain safe, continue to lead a normal life and enjoy school and activities in the community. We cannot thank Persimmon Homes enough for their support.”
Damian Seddon, director-in-charge at Persimmon Homes North London, said: “It is clear that this charity, although based locally, helps children and their families throughout the country, and we are delighted that we can help in this way. Their work seems to offer people a real lifeline when it is most needed.
“If people were unsuccessful in their Community Champions application, we urge them to visit the Persimmon Homes website and to try again this year and hopefully they will become our next recipient.”
