intu Metrocentre and intu Eldon Square launch new family club
A free club for north east families has launched at intu Metrocentre and intu Eldon Square just in time for May half term.
intu’s family club will offer parents and their children a number of fun activities to enjoy together at the popular shopping destinations.
At intu Metrocentre this half term families can enjoy a host of free activities including the chance to channel their competitive side and play a range of giant games in Exhibition Square, near Primark – from Jenga and Connect 4 to Twister and Snakes and Ladders. Shoppers can also put their reflexes to the test and enjoy a family game of table tennis in the Lower Qube, near Argos.
From Monday 28 May until Friday 1 June the Metrognomes will be entertaining the crowds with another mysterious adventure as they travel back in time and discover Stonehenge.
intu Metrocentre’s youngest shoppers will find Herbert, Sherbet, Maggot and Rusty taking centre stage in Exhibition Square and with several performances every day there are plenty of opportunities for the girls and boys of the north east to catch the exciting new adventure.
Over at intu Eldon Square visitors will be enjoying all the fun of the fair on Tuesday 29 and Wednesday 30 May with a host of free nostalgic fairgound games including hook a duck, tin can alley and the ball pit where there will be the chance to win prizes every hour.
Shoppers can take a peek into some crazy fairground mirrors, enjoy a sweet treat at the candy floss stand and even strike a pose at the photo station where they will receive a free photo to take away as a memento of the day.
If visitors sign up to be members of intu’s family club they will receive a series of special offers, free gifts and the opportunity to take part in more events at intu centres across the UK as part of their membership.
At intu Metrocentre members can enjoy 20% off a family bowl at Namco Funscape and free kids meals at Barburitto and ASK Italian as well as a host of other tempting offers, while over at intu Eldon Square there’s an array of discounts including 15% off at Crepeaffaire, 10% off at Paperchase and free kids meals at Giraffe World Kitchen.
More than 500 children across the country as well as members of intu’s ‘Shopper view’ panel, which is made up of customers from its UK centres, were given their say on everything from the activities the new family club will offer to the free gifts they’ll receive.
Gavin Prior, regional centre director at intu Metrocentre and intu Eldon Square said:
“It’s been great fun designing intu’s new family club and creating even more for parents and children to enjoy as part of their day out experience with us.
“We run a lot of activities over the school holidays already, and we’re kicking things off with some real half term fun, but our new family club will be running all year round with lots of opportunities for parents to spend quality time with their children. That could be just five minutes in between a busy shopping trip or a whole afternoon together. “This is the latest compelling initiative to be created by intu thanks to valuable feedback we’ve received from our customers.”
