Muslim dating app goes international with 12 additional languages
Muslim dating app muzmatch is bringing its platform to a wider international audience.
The London-based company has confirmed plans to increase member numbers by making its app available in 12 additional languages.
Set up in 2015 by former investment banker Shahzad Younas and tech entrepreneur Ryan Brodie, muzmatch is already used by over 500,000 English speakers in 190 countries.
Since its launch three years ago, the firm’s team has grown to six engineers and marketing staff working from an office in Aldgate, in addition to three employees in Bangladesh.
Muzmatch raised a $1.75m seed investment in January and has backing from Silicon Valley-based Y Combinator and Hambro Perks.
Shahzad Younas said of the company’s plans for localisation: “By adding 12 languages to our app we hope to truly serve this global audience and further boost the number of international successes through our platform.”
Ryan Brodie commented: “Thousands offered to translate and test the new version of muzmatch and their efforts have proven invaluable.
“Their understanding has resulted in a product that’s as accessible and intuitive in these new languages as the original was in English.”
muzmatch will launch the new app internationally in time for the Muslim festival of Eid al Fitr on June 14.
