Qubic expands senior team with appointment of Tax Investigations Director
Accountancy and tax firm Qubic Tax has recruited a leading tax specialist in a new role as Tax Investigations and Employment Tax Director to assist its growing portfolio of advisers and clients with tax investigation dispute resolution and employment tax services.
Qubic, a national firm of tax specialists with offices in London and Newcastle, specialises in providing tax advice to SME’s, high net worth clients and business owners throughout the UK.
Now in its tenth year of business, with over 40 staff, Qubic is pleased to welcome Dave Jennings to oversee its tax disputes and employment tax services and further strengthen its senior technical tax team.
A Chartered Tax Adviser and ex-HMRC Tax Inspector, Mr Jennings has over 30 years’ experience in the area of tax investigations and employment taxes. Prior to joining Qubic Mr Jennings worked for HMRC as a fully qualified Tax Inspector for 20 years specialising in PAYE and NIC, and also worked at Top 10 UK Accounting firms Grant Thornton and Mazars.
Mr Jennings commented:
“I’m delighted to be starting a new role at Qubic. My role will be primarily helping clients and their professional advisers on various HMRC tax enquiries and disputes, including employment tax issues and COP8/COP9 enquiries.
I’ve also helped hundreds of clients with onshore/offshore voluntary tax disclosures, and I have experience at the First and Upper Tier Tax Tribunals, the Court of Appeal, and as an expert witness in civil disputes and criminal prosecutions. I’m looking forward to bringing my experience to Qubic and speaking with firms I know will greatly benefit from assistance in negotiating the best settlement or solution for them“.
Mr Jennings’ work will also focus on assisting taxpayers and firms with issues related to historical tax schemes and EBTs, including Accelerated Payment Notices (APNs), Follower Notices and the 2019 loan charge.
As well as being a regular speaker on HMRC tax investigations and employment tax issues at professional body events, Mr Jennings also writes for various tax and accounting journals. He is also a well-known tax author having co-written an extensive guide to employee benefits and expenses, available at Claritax Books.
Qubic Tax Director David Graham said:
“We are delighted to have Dave joining us at Qubic. His appointment supports our continued growth strategy, following the recent expansion of both our London and Newcastle offices.
Dave has a vast knowledge and expertise in negotiating the best settlement and solution for taxpayers who need assistance with tax disputes and is well respected in the tax sector, and to have someone of his calibre on board will serve to strengthen our service offerings“.
Mr Jennings will be working from Qubic’s London office based at 30 St Mary Axe (The Gherkin) developing relationships with advisers and clients across the UK, ensuring that Qubic’s services are available to those looking for expert advice and assistance with tax investigations and employment taxes.
