Peel submits plans for £3.5m village scheme at Wirral Waters
Developer Peel Land and Property has submitted plans for multi-million pound retail and arts space at Wirral Waters.
If approved by Wirral Council’s planning committee, the £3.5m ‘Egerton Village’ scheme will provide amenities and facilities for the wider development’s residential and business communities.
The complex will offer waterside views across to Liverpool and comprise a dockside restaurant and bistro, retail units, artists’ studios, managed workspace, a gallery and large public events space.
It will be located at Four Bridges, next to Wirral Metropolitan College. Also nearby are the proposed new £6m No 1 Tower Road South office site and the £15m Maritime Knowledge Hub.
OMI Architects is the company behind the designs.
Peel Land and Property’s director of development, Richard Mawdsley, said: “Our plans for Egerton Village focus on providing the facilities which lie at the heart of a thriving community. It is designed to serve new and existing residents, students and local businesses as well as visitors.”
OMI Architects director Nick Berry commented: “The proposals for Egerton Village will create a vibrant place defined by an exciting and diverse range of uses and activities.
“The ‘Village’ concept will provide an opportunity for local businesses to contribute to Peel’s vision for this unique waterside environment and will help put the Wirral on the map as a destination for visitors from across the world.”
