Work starts on £41m car showroom development near intu Trafford Centre
Auto dealer Williams Group has chosen family-run building firm Caddick Construction to deliver its new £41m automotive retail centre in TraffordCity.
Yorkshire-based Caddick, part of property and construction company Caddick Group plc, will build a three-storey BMW showroom, two-storey Jaguar Land Rover showroom and single-storey MINI showroom on a 14.3-acre site opposite Event City.
Also included in the plans are workshops, valet space and car washing facilities, along with road and drainage works.
Ian Threadgold, North West construction manager at Caddick, said: “We have built an extensive portfolio of car showrooms and dealerships, which demonstrates the strength and capability of our teams working in partnership with clients in the automotive sector.
“We’re extremely proud of our long association with Manchester, where we are currently working on the landmark 34-storey Angel Gardens project in the city centre.”
He added: “Undertaking this major development enables us to continue contributing to its future prosperity by engaging with local suppliers as well as creating local job opportunities.”
Wilmslow-based Taylor Design is the architecture practice behind the designs for the site.
Williams Group MD Nick Cook commented: “Our vision includes a striking range of contemporary showrooms including the new Jaguar land Rover ARCH concept featuring a dual branded showroom and service drive through for Jaguar and Land Rover.
“Our stunning new flagship retail centre at this premium site will provide the perfect platform to display our range of prestige vehicles.”
The project forms part of the wider TraffordCity redevelopment by Peel Land and Property, which will create a further 3.4 million sq ft of retail, leisure and commercial space around Intu Trafford Centre.
Work on the new Williams complex started on Monday (June 11). Completion is due in late Summer 2019.
