Growth in Manchester for law firm Fieldfisher as revenues surge
The Manchester office of European law firm Fieldfisher has announced a double-digit uptick in revenues.
The company’s city-based team generated £11m over the 2017/18 year – 14.5% ahead of budget.
Fieldfisher has a growing presence in Manchester, with headcount growing 25% in the last six months.
The appointments have included four partner hires since April, among them David Bowcock as head of corporate and banking partner Charlotte Round.
The Manchester office secured a number of key client wins and acted on major deals during the year, Fieldfisher said. Highlights included the firm’s appointment as a full service legal adviser on the Co-op’s new legal panel and its work on Restore plc’s £88m acquisition of TNT UK’s document management business.
Globally, the company’s revenues rose to £207m –the first time Fieldfisher has generated over £200m.
Ian Austin, the firm’s Manchester-based managing partner, said: “We are pleased to announce these results, both firm-wide and in Manchester.
“We are continuing to grow at a fantastic rate and I am happy that our growth in Manchester is in direct correlation with the firm’s overall success.”
He continued: “We have had a record year, both in terms of revenue and personnel.
“We have acquired some fantastic partners, associates and business support staff who all contribute to the progress and profitability of the office. In the coming year we are still focused on growth, and we intend to expand our Real Estate, Corporate, Medical Negligence and Technology teams.”
