Jeremy Kyle DNA testing company announces US expansion
AlphaBiolabs, the firm behind the DNA tests on ITV’s The Jeremy Kyle Show, has set up an operation in the US.
The Warrington-headquartered company chose Florida for the location of its new sales and administration office, backed by an order fulfilment facility and dedicated US website.
The launch represents an initial £250k investment for AlphaBiolabs.
The centre, located in Clearwater, will start out offering ‘peace of mind’ DNA relationship testing across the US, Canada and Mexico, with plans to expand the services available in the next few years.
Lab testing for the American market will be performed at AlphaBiolabs’ Warrington HQ.
Rachel Davenport, AlphaBiolabs commercial director, said: “The US is the birthplace of commercial DNA testing and offers a huge market for the services we have been providing for many years in the UK and Europe.
“It is forecast that the global direct-to-consumer genetic testing market will increase from £100m in 2018 to £250m by 2022, and we believe the US will play a key role in that growth.”
She added: “With a potential reach of over 320 million people, our new Florida operation gives us the opportunity to expand our business exponentially over the next few years.”
Speaking further, Rachel said strong direct air links between Manchester and Florida also played a part in the firm’s choice of location for its overseas expansion.
She continued: “With full logistical capabilities in the US, backed by investment in our UK headquarters with a new IT system, additional staff and equipment, we are well-prepared for our expansion into North America.
“It’s an exciting time for the business and we are already planning to increase the number of testing services we offer to our transatlantic customers over the coming months.”
Last month, AlphaBiolabs announced record revenues with year-on-year growth at 16%.
