Housebuilder helps fund Scarlett’s Treatment Again

A Peebles family is celebrating this week after receiving a £500 donation towards vital treatment for their young daughter. Two-year-old Scarlett Moore, who was diagnosed with quadriplegic cerebral palsy following a lack of oxygen during birth, has been gifted the money from Persimmon Homes East Scotland’s Community Champions scheme for the second year running. The company donated £1,000 in May 2017 towards the cost of Scarlett’s Advanced Biomedical Rehabilitation (ABR).
Scarlett struggles every day to hold her head up, sit up, crawl or even roll over comfortably and has to be fed through a tube. The only treatment that has the potential to improve her mobility is ABR. Scarlett’s mother, Laura Moore said: “We’re delighted to have received this generous donation from Persimmon Homes towards the cost of the ABR therapy.” “It has made a huge difference to Scarlett’s overall happiness, it has improved her upper body strength making it easier for her to control her head.” The therapy itself is a rehabilitative home-based therapy used to treat children with cerebral palsy by bringing about predictable recovery of muscular skeletal structure.” “With treatment costing just under £6,000 we’ve been doing everything we can to boost our funds, including raising money through Just4children and a recent coffee morning that raised £1,000.” Jim Kirkpatrick, Managing Director for Persimmon Homes East Scotland said: “I really am pleased that we’ve been able to help this special family again with the cost of treatment for their young daughter.” “This is exactly the kind of cause that the Community Champions initiative was set up to help in the communities where we build making a real difference to residents.” “If you’re not successful on your first attempt for funding, you’re free to apply as many times as you wish. It’s a great way to acquire funds for a charity or group close to your heart.” Persimmon Homes East Scotland are currently building a range of new three, four and five -bedroom homes at the Melrose Gait development in Galashiels with prices from £136,000.
