WE’LL DRINK TO THAT...
OpenTable release the Top 50 Fit for Foodies list this week, as part of the Estrella National Restaurant Awards, and one of our own Newcastle venues has made the top four.
Out of an astonishing 730,000 reviews, submitted and verified by OpenTable diners from 7,200 restaurants, Peace and Loaf in Jesmond has become one of the top 50 in the country with reviewers leaving their on-line comments on the popular foodie site.
Out of the whole of the North East, Peace and Loaf were the only restaurant to make the cut, coming 4th in the UK and placing the region, Newcastle in particularly, firmly on the foodie map.
Dave Coulson, Chef Patron at Peace and Loaf told us why this award was so important to the team:
“These awards are always the best type to get, as it’s our customers who are the ones doing the voting.
“It’s always an honour to win any award, but when it comes from the general public, the very people who dine in our venue and enjoy our hospitality, then it is incredibly special to me and the team and we are very grateful for each and every one of the people who took the time to leave their reviews.
“We couldn’t do it without you, so thank you to all who made their feelings clear.”
Peace and Loaf is part-owned and operated by Masterchef, the Professionals runner-up Coulson and opened in Autumn 2013.
By ensuring that every care and attention goes into the meticulously crafted menu, filled with new takes on classic dishes which regularly change, Coulson’s extensive training and tutelage under Michelin two-star rated Michel Roux Jr. has allowed him to pick up intricate skills and his own unique style.
“After being named in 4th place in the list of Top 50 Fit for Foodies, Peace and Loaf have broken the cycle of London based restaurants hitting the top spots, and hopefully will open the gates for other regional venues to follow suit.” Concluded Coulson.
