Forbes Announces Major Conference on Safeguarding in Social Housing

A major conference focusing on the important of a multi-agency approach to safeguarding and vulnerability is being held by Forbes Solicitors and West Yorkshire Police.

The West Yorkshire Housing and Safeguarding Exchange Conference, at Cedar Court Hotel, Ainley Top on July 12, will be attended by Halifax MP Holly Lynch and senior police, housing, fire service and social care professionals from throughout the area.

It will deal with how to develop practical frontline partnership working between all the agencies, understanding their roles, making safeguarding referrals and identifying opportunities for collaborative, multi-agency solutions.

Darren Burton, Head of Housing Consultancy Service for Forbes Solicitors, which has offices in Leeds and across the north of England, said: “The importance of partnership working is regularly talked about in the Social Housing sector but how do we ensure that effective processes are in place to resolve cases and keep vulnerable victims safe in our communities?

“This conference is vitally important as a way to identify the issues and work together to resolve them.”

West Yorkshire’s Assistant Chief Constable Catherine Hankinson (Portfolio Holder for Neighbour hoods & Safeguarding) will be opening the event along with West Yorkshire’s Police & Crime Commissioner Mark Burns-Williamson, OBE.

Kella Bowers, Partner and Head of Social Work & Abuse for Forbes Solicitors will speak on “Identifying and reporting Child Sexual Exploitation in Your Neighbourhoods.”

Daniel Milnes, a Partner at Forbes Solicitors will also speak on “Data Protection & Sharing Information Between Agencies.”

Delegates will also learn about the mapping of safeguarding, anti-social behaviour and crime-related incidents in social housing neighbourhoods.
