Supporters step up for Fixtures Breakfast

Foundation of Light and Sunderland AFC announced the new football season fixtures at a special breakfast attended by Black Cats manager Jack Ross.

The Scotsman and club legend Kevin Ball joined Foundation and Sunderland AFC corporate supporters at the Beacon of Light to look ahead to the upcoming EFL League One campaign in the event hosted by BBC’s Jeff Brown.

Jack took part in a Q&A where he discussed the club’s pre-season plans, his football philosophy and the exciting new era on Wearside which will begin against Charlton Athletic at the Stadium of Light on Saturday 4th August.

The morning also gave guests the chance to have a glimpse behind the scenes at the Beacon of Light, the North East’s newest sports, education, health and events facility.

Beacon of Light General Manager Phil King, said: “Fixtures Breakfast is always one of our most popular events, even more so as this is the first time we’ve held it at the Beacon.

“We would like to thank Jack Ross for taking to the stage in his first public appointment and all of our supporters who helped us usher in the new season.”

The Beacon of Light is a vibrant centre of opportunity located next to the Stadium of Light and the Aquatic Centre which provides first-class sporting facilities alongside world-class education and training opportunities for all.

The main staircase, running through the heart of the building and joining the Street Level to the Rooftop 4G Football Barn via 73 steps, gives local businesses the chance to make their mark and a difference to the people of the North-East forever.

Former SAFC captain Kevin Ball added: “I’ve been an ambassador for the Foundation for a few years now and I’ve had the pleasure of meeting the people whose lives they’ve changed and seen this building go from vision to reality.

“Our charity is setting the standards for other football club worldwide and there’s still a chance to get involved. I urge everyone who can to become part of this fantastic success story by purchasing a step which will be seen by 6,000 people every week.”
