Leading foster care agency receives top grades from Care Inspectorate
Glasgow-based independent fostering agency, Foster Care Associates Scotland (FCAS), operating across the length and breadth of the country, has received the Care Inspectorate’s top grades for its 2018 inspection.
Rated ‘very good’ for its quality of care and support and ‘excellent’ for its quality of staffing, the Care Inspectorate cited the ‘extra mile’ FCAS goes to when supporting carers and foster children, with the agency’s unique team parenting approach recognised and applauded. They also found that insightful and comprehensive multi-disciplinary discussions contributed to staff and carers’ understanding of children’s often complex needs.
Importantly, foster carers told inspectors that they felt supported and that their views were respected by FCAS.
Jo Derrick, Managing Director at Foster Care Associates Scotland, commented: “Our vision is to make a positive and lasting difference to the lives of children and young people, and we really value the passion and commitment displayed by our foster carers and staff.
“We’re thrilled that the Inspector recognised our innovative and supportive approach to foster care, including the strides we have made in our learning and development programme. This is a cornerstone of the support that we provide, ensuring that all of our staff and carers are equipped to support our children and young people”.
