PRIMARY SCHOOL CONNECTS FOR IT FUNDING

A regional builder is supporting fundraising efforts to equip primary school pupils and their teachers with the latest IT devices. Persimmon Homes East Midlands has donated £1,000 from its Community Champions fund to Waterbeach Primary School, Cambridgeshire, to support fundraising efforts to buy tablets. The money supports the efforts of head teacher Jane Green. Parent Cate Mason, who made the application, said: “Miss Green has set an example to the children by challenging herself to raise £5,000 to buy the tablets for pupils and teachers at the school. “During half term she did an 80-mile sponsored walk and has also undertaken wing-walking and climbing Kilimanjaro. She has truly been an inspiration to the children. “the £1,000 donation from Persimmon Homes East Midlands has been a huge boost to her funds and we are all very grateful.” Simon McDonald, managing director of Persimmon Homes East Midlands, based in Peterborough, said: “We are extremely proud of our Community Champions scheme. It’s terrific to be able to support groups and charities across the region with thousands of pounds every year. “Miss Green has set an excellent example to the children at Waterbeach primary School and it is an honour to be able to support the school and to help children learn with the benefit of strong IT.” The Persimmon Homes Community Champions initiative invites groups and charities who have already worked hard to raise money themselves to apply for match-funding of up to £1,000. Persimmon Homes East Midlands has two awards of up to £1,000 each available every month.
