Local entrepreneur, John Courtney, wins SPARKies 2018 Award

• Local entrepreneur scoops Lifetime Achievement accolade -

Over the course of his 40-year career John Courtney, regional director of The Marketing Centre, has continually worked towards innovation and supporting entrepreneurship in the South West - encompassing Swindon to Swansea, Worcester to Exeter. In recognition of his exceptional business achievements, he has scooped the Lifetime Achievement Award at the top tech awards for the region: theSPARKies 2018.

Having founded seven companies, John Courtney, is a key character in the continuous drive for business growth in the South West, and across the UK. Alongside his work at The Marketing Centre, which provides a team of 80+ part-time marketing directors who offer services to small and medium sized businesses, he also uses his wealth of experience as a mentor at SETsquared, Entrepreneurial Spark and Microsoft for StartUps. He has also ranked 30 in the list of the top 100 UK entrepreneurs by CityAM.

With a record number of nominations this year, Mr Courtney is thrilled to have won the award. He comments: “I am delighted to have been selected as the winner amongst such talented and motivated individuals. I believe that the South West has an incredible drive for, and commitment to, entrepreneurship with so many fantastic businesses, old and new. I hope that I can continue to support this, and share what I have learnt with anyone else who has a passion for business.”
