Huddersfield agency relaunch Leeds theatre online
Splitpixel Creative play key role in Leeds Playhouse’s rebrand, part of a £15m redevelopment project.
Splitpixel Creative recently launched a new website for Leeds Playhouse, formerly known as West Yorkshire Playhouse, the biggest theatre in Leeds and one of the busiest outside of London.
The small Huddersfield agency has been working with the Leeds theatre since 2015, when it undertook a previous web design and booking system integration for the theatre.
As of 2018, West Yorkshire Playhouse has rebranded as Leeds Playhouse, as part of a £15m redevelopment of the theatre’s branding and building.
The launch, which took place on 22 June, received plaudits from across the theatre industry, including a heartfelt message on Twitter from Sir Ian McKellen.
The specialist digital agency was responsible for the redesign and development of the new Playhouse website, including its theatre listings and ticket booking system.
The site features a huge range of features that make it as easy as possible for the Playhouse team to manage their website, add new shows to the listings, and share information about their artistic development and community outreach work.
Splitpixel co-founder and studio director Charlie Herke said: “After working with the Playhouse for a number of years, we were really happy that they trusted us to take their brand forward online, and to play a part in this huge redevelopment project.
“This was one of the biggest projects we’ve worked on as an agency, and I’m incredibly proud of the team for turning around a great-looking, feature-rich site in such a short period of time – and that the launch went off without a hitch.
“We’re looking forward to continuing to work with the Leeds Playhouse team and wish them all the best with the redevelopment!”
