New 30,000 sq ft home for logistics firm founded by former DJ
London entrepreneur Adam Hopcroft is marking 25 years in the logistics industry with a move to a new 30,000 sq ft warehouse.
Former DJ Adam founded Premier Palletised Ltd (PPL) in the bedroom of his council flat in 1993.
The company took £350 in its first week but now generates an annual turnover of more than £5m, employing 52 staff and operating a 40-strong fleet.
Adam, managing director at PPL, said: “I was in the pub one night and a friend of mine mentioned they had spent £600 on cabs that day, I said ‘I work at night so I could do some of that’, so I started doing the odd job here and there with a transit van.
“It grew quickly, particularly the work I was doing with Spicers Stationery, so I started adding drivers.”
PPL joined pallet network Pall-Ex in 2003 – a decision that Adam said has been “instrumental” in driving the firm’s growth.
He explained: “It has allowed us to take on contracts knowing that we’re in a stable financial position with a blue chip company and it has also allowed us to compete nationally for work.”
Kevin Buchanan, group managing director of Pall-Ex, commented: “We are very proud to call PPL a Pall-Ex member and are delighted to celebrate this milestone with them, which is all down to Adam’s determination and vision.
“We welcomed PPL into our network 15 years ago and are pleased to have been able to support them with growing their business. We look forward to continuing our relationship long into the future.”
