Spotting mini beasts! Local housebuilder inspires children to care for wildlife through RSPB partnership

Inspired by its recent RSPB partnership extension, David Wilson Homes is encouraging local primary school children to look after wildlife by donating a bee and bug house, and wildlife spotting sheets, to Pocklington Community Junior School.

Dawn Cardigan, Sales Adviser at nearby Pavilion Square development in Pocklington, recently visited the primary school to gift the pupils a house for visiting insects in their school gardens. The children, aged nine to ten years old, were then provided with activity spotting sheets and given the chance to explore their playgrounds, spotting the wildlife in their local area.

David Wilson Homes recently announced the renewal and extension of a unique partnership with the RSPB for another three years. The partnership aims to deliver more wildlife friendly housing across Pocklington, helping to give nature a home.

Sarah Ridlington, Teacher at Pocklington Community Junior School, commented: “It was brilliant to have Dawn visit the school to inspire the children to have an interest in local wildlife. They really enjoyed searching for creepy crawlies, bees and butterflies and are excited see what they can spot over the coming months in and around their insect house, which is now pride of place in our school grounds.”
