Votes are in and the set's confirmed for Roberts Bakery Band's Bluedot Festival debut
After asking fans and followers to vote for the songs it should play at this weekend’s Bluedot festival, Roberts Bakery Band has just confirmed its star-studded set.
Top placed tunes that the band will blast out on the festival’s main stage this Sunday afternoon - against the awe-inspiring backdrop of the famous Lovell telescope - include Human, by Rag ‘n’ Bone Man and Get Lucky by Daft Punk featuring Pharrell Williams.
It’s sure-to-be popular playlist also features Valerie by Mark Ronson and Amy Winehouse, 1999 by Prince and Paint It Black by the Rolling Stones.
And a most apt and popular playlist addition for Bluedot - a cosmic festival where music, science and space discovery collide – is David Bowie’s 1973 top three hit Life on Mars. It was later remixed and rereleased as a single in 2016 for the compilation album Legacy (The Very Best of David Bowie).
Roberts Bakery Band will be following in the footsteps of Hannah Peel and Tubular Brass at last year’s Bluedot who performed Mike Oldfield’s electronic classic Tubular Bells on the very same Lovell Stage.
Roberts’ family member Lindsay Occleston said: “As a brand that’s rooted in innovation, Bluedot is a fabulous fit for us. We pride ourselves on creating a tantalising twist on the traditional – whether that’s adding a splash of gin and dash of tonic to a teacake or a handful of chilli flakes to a soft corn roll.
“So, the Roberts Brass Band taking to the main stage at such a serious music festival – playing their own “brilliantly brassy” renditions of some of the most popular songs of recent years – supports our insatiable appetite for embracing all things new and unexpected.”
Bluedot festival takes place at Jodrell Bank from Thursday 19th to Sunday 22nd July.
Roberts Bakery Band set includes the following top ten voted for songs: • Don’t Stop Me Now by Queen • Life on Mars by David Bowie • Valerie by Mark Ronson & Amy Winehouse • Thriller by Michael Jackson • Paint It Black by The Rolling Stones • 1999 by Prince • Can You Feel It by the Jackson 5 • Human by Rag ‘n’ Bone Man • Get Lucky by Daft Punk (feat. Pharrell Williams) • All Night Long by Lionel Richie
